I am happy to relay that the dispute has been settled, and everyone involved is happy with the outcome:

Food Not Bombs, an anti-poverty organization that gives away hot meals to the poor, has agreed to move farther away from King Street.

It’s being called a “win-win” solution that’s expected to end the tension between downtown Kitchener merchants and the group that feeds the hungry downtown. The new location is just a few metres away in Civic Square, in a sheltered area beside the ramp that leads to College Street. It’s clearly visible from King Street.

The Kitchener Downtown Business Association has agreed to make a large free-standing banner for the group.

The City of Kitchener has agreed to let the group store some equipment at City Hall.

“It’s a really positive outcome,” said Kelly Anthony, a University of Waterloo professor who volunteers with Food Not Bombs.

Mark Garner, executive director of the downtown business association, predicted area businesses will “embrace” the agreement.

“It’s a win-win,” he said.

And we are all so passionate about what we do, that the expertise and advise you will get while you shop will be unsurpassed. Sit on our patio on a gorgeous day and feel like you are on a sidewalk in Florence.

It will be a one stop shop for all of your groceries, with the best of all areas. It will be visually exciting, melding a hip contemporary look, with a lot of eye candy, with the traditions of a French Marche.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this will be the most talked about retail experience west of Toronto.

China Patterns

We cater a lot of events, parties, and corporate functions. As with the store, we try to get as trendy of displays as we can. One of the most common questions we have is where do we get our china patterns when we are at these events. Unfortunately, there is not really a great store for this in Kitchener and Waterloo (Certainly a hint for any of you entrepreneurs out there! We would be your first customers!). We go to William Ashley’s in Toronto, they have the newest, hippest patterns, great service, reasonable price and great ideas! Rocky Mountain Chocolates comes to David’s!

Starting later today, David’s is proud to announce that we will be carrying Rocky Mountain Chocolates exclusively in our Waterloo store. We are the only retail gourmet grocery store in Canada to carry them. If you have not seen their incredible products in their mall boutiques, drop by David’s to sample and enjoy. Items include gourmet carmel apples, chocolate barks, chocolate covered cherries, soft fudge and many more!

400 New Products to Canada arriving Valentine’s Day - Exclusive to David’s

We are proud to announce that we are receiving 400 new products in the store around Valentine’s Day. We will be the only store in Canada to carry these lines. They range from spaghetti sauce to chocolates to peanut butter cups. Because these product will take up another 8 racks or so, we will be expanding both locations to make room.

I have not been this excited since the opening of the stores, trust me you will love them!!!

New Location announced!

Thanks to you, we are opening a second location in downtown Kitchener across from City Hall in the old Farrah Foods building next to Budd’s. We have also purchased the building and plan to renovate the facade to look much like it originally did 90 years ago. We are proud to be part of the city’s revitalization project and truly believe the downtown core will soon be something spectacular. Planned opening is the end of October, please keep in touch to find out a more specific date.
